About Phillipa Eagle: ADHD & Dyslexia Specialist, Advocate, and Author

Phillipa Eagle is a passionate advocate, literacy specialist, and author dedicated to helping children with Dyslexia and ADHD flourish. With over four decades of experience spanning primary, secondary, and tertiary education, she bridges the gap between classroom frustration and learning success. Phillipa empowers parents and teachers with practical guidance to rebuild self-image, restore confidence, and unlock the true potential in every neurodivergent child.

A Lived Experience: Understanding Neurodiversity from the Inside Out

Phillipa’s deep empathy for neurodivergent learners stems from her own childhood. Growing up as an inquisitive, creative, and chatty child, her school days were often baffling, marked by distractibility, challenges with focus, and difficulties organising her writing. It was only much later in life that she recognized ADHD was at the root of her own early struggles.

After entering primary teaching, Phillipa loved connecting with children but felt ill-equipped to meet the complex learning and behavioral needs in large classrooms. She stepped away from teaching to explore other paths, returning years later with deeper insight, renewed purpose, and a fierce determination to advocate for children who fall through the cracks.

Bridging the Gap Between Dyslexia and ADHD

Through years of literacy tutoring and advocacy work, Phillipa heard countless heart-wrenching stories from parents and teachers struggling to support children who felt misunderstood. She discovered a crucial pattern: a significant number of dyslexic children are also diagnosed with ADHD, two deeply interconnected learning differences that affect up to 20% of classroom students.

Driven to raise awareness among parents, teachers, and school leaders, Phillipa authored A Life Misunderstood. The book gives voice to neurodivergent children and equips the adults in their lives with raw honesty, practical wisdom, and actionable strategies.
